It Begins with a Decision

"You are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it every other man will have more than he has now." ~Wallace Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

Sometimes we get wanting confused with deciding. Recently, "Neil" wanted to change his work. He felt pretty fortunate with his job. It pays a comfortable wage, he has relative freedom, the people he works with are pleasant and the he enjoys his work to a degree. But on the whole, he is unfulfilled. He works long hours and he knows he's not using his true gifts. Though he knows his work is valuable and needed, it lacks a deeper sense of purpose and meaning for him personally.

For a long while he has affirmed to himself that he knows his purpose, a larger income, asked for what he wanted and desired to move on. He had been holding it out there, or holding space for it for some time and though he liked the changes that occurred so far, he was discouraged that so much time (years) had gone by without clarity for his particular purpose. He had even done quite a bit of energy work to release limiting beliefs in the way.

I asked him if he had actually decided to know his purpose and do work that he loved. In all the time he had been affirming and seeking the change, he had been wanting it, asking for it, and thinking it was on its way. But he had not decided in such a way that he knew it was his. He had kept it at bay with his wanting. As a result, he was continually reinvesting himself in his current situation with his choices, thoughts and emotions rather than investing himself in his vision of abundance and purpose in his work.

One of the principles of abundance that can freak people out is the realization of how much power they have to draw and command into their life what they desire. There is no garage in the sky keeping our desires from us. We don't have to beg, grovel or become "good enough." We already are!

By deciding to know his purpose and experience work that he loves, Neil is able to be present in his current job continuing his work at a high level of competency, while at the same time his choices and the way he invests his time and thoughts, spring out of his knowing that what he desires is already his. It is just a matter of time, which is only the process of his transformation to align him with what he desires. It can be momentary or longer.

Already, new opportunities have shown up on his horizon. We used EFT and other energy tools to eliminate his reluctance and blocks around the idea of deciding and it has changed his focus, the way he views his current work and the way he lives his life in general. Already, he doesn't work the long hours, he's experiencing more flow, more joy, more ease and his story continues.
